Q. Who attends the LEAP Leadership Programs? Will each participant benefit equally from such an experience?
Much of how we determine whether or not an individual is accepted into a LEAP program is contingent upon the phone interview we require with every applicant. At LEAP, we are not necessarily looking to accept only those who have been a model student up until now. We strive to have diversity within our programs, and seek to admit participants from a variety of backgrounds, who will help us create the type of affective and inspiring environment for all participants to wholly achieve what LEAP has to offer.
The factor that is of utmost importance to us is that each participant has a drive to Lead, Excel and Accelerate his or her Potential. What each student gains from the program is entirely dependent upon the individual student’s motivation, abilities and personal commitment to reaching his or her potential. We provide every student with the opportunity to achieve the maximum amount of insight from our programs, and our phone interviews help us to select those individuals who we believe will take advantage of such an invaluable opportunity.
Q. Should I attend the program with friends or siblings?
Certainly. In fact, we believe that this provides participants with the opportunity to have a take-home support network. It helps participants continue to implement everything they have learned at LEAP. We do, however, want to ensure that every participant benefits as much as possible from the LEAP experience, so we request that friends and siblings be placed in separate LEAP groups (a small group of 8 to 12 LEAP participants, led by a Group Mentor, that meets throughout the course of the program).
Should you have any questions regarding a specific circumstance, please direct them to one of our program coordinators or call 1.877.855.LEAP (5327). We would love to speak with you!
Q. As a minor, how will my child be chaperoned?
You will find that LEAP’s Leadership programs provide the best balance of invaluable information, supportive supervision and exciting activities. LEAP programs are held at a number of college campuses and hotels around the country. Participants will always be paired with a roommate. The safety of our participants is of utmost importance. Participants are, therefore, required to stay on campus or within the hotel throughout the entirety of the program.
In addition, each participant is strategically assigned to a small group of 8 to 12 LEAP participants throughout the course of the program. Each group is led by Mentor, who has been carefully selected by The LEAP Foundation to lead and provide support to his or her group of participants. Group Mentors are accomplished, who has been accepted to lead and supervise his or her small group.
They have demonstrated admirable leadership and have achieved excellence in their academic and professional lives. LEAP’s Group Mentors wholly embody the principles and values of The LEAP Foundation and are dedicated to and actively involved in ensuring that each LEAP participant is accelerating his or her potential and is maximizing his or her experience at the LEAP Leadership Program.
Q. What does my tuition cover?
The tuition covers all workshops, residence hall or hotel lodging for the duration of the program, all meals, all program workbooks and materials, planned recreational and evening activities, as well as program memorabilia. Tuition does not include travel or transportation to and from the program site, an optional $15 LEAP t-shirt or spending money.
Q. When do I make my travel arrangements?
Students from anywhere are welcome to attend the program. Participants should fly into the appropriate airport for their program before 2:00 p.m. on the first day and depart after 2:00 p.m. on the last day. Please do not make any travel arrangements until you receive written confirmation of your acceptance into a LEAP program. LEAP will send you further travel information in your enrollment package.
Q. How will I be transported to and from the airport?
A LEAP Foundation representative will meet students at the airport upon arrival and shuttle them back to the airport at the conclusion of the program for $45 one way, or $65 round trip. Shuttle reservations will be provided after your program application has been received and you have been granted admission into the LEAP program of your choosing.
